Make sure that you have the latest video drivers for your hardware. Display lists are used and there are known problems with a number of old drivers.
Unzip the file into a convenient location.
Obtain a version of Quake™ and copy the "pak0.pak" file into the "resource/packfile/id1" directory. For Linux systems, "pak0.pak" must be lower case. You will receive a pop-up that informs you if you do not have the file in the correct location.
Close all other applications especially IM clients. Because the application will take control of the mouse (and attempt to go full screen if selected), if another application tries to gain focus you may not be able to go back to the application and close it.
Run the "Demo" executable.
When you're done viewing the demo, hit any key to bring up the credits and then 'y' to exit. When the demo finishes, it will bring up the credits for you.
